2014 Spring Championship
Saucon Valley CC – Bethlehem, PA
May 4-7, 2014
As is always the case with ASGA events, the hospitality and camaraderie were featured throughout and we were thrilled to welcome nine terrific new members and guests!!! – Bob and Ruth Bass from Tallahassee, FL; Jeff Berger from Burlington, VT; Bill Hall from River Edge, NJ; Thomas and Janette Holley from Wichita Falls, TX; John Pinto from White Plains, NY; Tex Spear from Spring, TX; David Splaine from West Newbury, MA; Roy Teskey from Toronto, ON; Richard Tipaldi from Manasquan, NJ – to their first event with ASGA and hope that we see them at many more to come.
A very special congratulations goes to the overall winner of the event Ned Longson of Rockville, MD. A wonderful player and longtime member of ASGA, his week was highlighted by not only three great rounds in the 70’s on two very difficult golf courses, but also one of the more unique feats that any of us can recall. Ned’s second round included scores of 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the four par 3 holes!!! The hole in one was his first shot of the day and despite a closing triple bogey, Ned went on to post a round of 75 which he followed up with a final round 75 to capture the Championship by three strokes over second round leader David Weisberger of Larchmont, NY.
Congratulations in the Gross/Net Division also go to Net Champion Donald Meyer and Super Senior Champion Steve Chernock.
The Stableford Division was led by Ken Auerbach while Peter Malkin took top Super Senior Honors.
Carol Kunsman posted the top ladies Gross score while Rekha Lawande took the trophy for best Net total.
