2015 Better Ball of Pairs Championship

Casa de Campo – La Romana, D.R.
February 12-15, 2015

Casa de Campo once again provided the perfect winter getaway for Members in attendance at the 2015 ASGA Better Ball of Pairs Championship. While much of the country continued to struggle with freezing cold temperatures, snow and ice, The Dominican Republic greeted ASGA Members as always with 85 degrees and sunshine during the day along with gentle Caribbean breezes. Teeth of the Dog, consistently ranked among the best courses in the World, was in outstanding condition, as was the Dye Fore course which continues to improve each year and is considered the favored course by many. The already outstanding food, drink and service continues to get better every year and our opening reception and dinner at sunset at The Beach Club was the perfect way to start the week.

As is always the case with ASGA events, the hospitality and camaraderie were featured throughout and we were thrilled to welcome six terrific new members and guests!!! – Jeff and Cassie Bailey of Freedom, WY; Bill and Cynthia Gerber of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; George Hoenig of Wilton, CT; Louis Hoenig of New Rochelle, NY; Rick and Bonnie Leto of Del Ray Beach, FL; Andrew and Denise Stringer of Hilton Head, SC; – to their first event with ASGA and hope that we see them at many more to come.

Some great play also highlighted the week and congratulations go to the team of Bill Gerber and Andrew Stringer who took home the title for the top Gross prize, highlighted by an opening round of even par 72 on the difficult Teeth of the Dog. Subsequent rounds of 74-76 gave them a one stroke victory over William Brower and Fred Putney as well as Tom Cole and Steve Curtis who opened with 2 under par 70. Congratulations also go to John Clough and Mark Teskey for their great play in posting the best Net score and taking top Net honors.

In the Ladies Championship Division, the top Gross score was posted by Susan Mackay while Diane Schwab took home the trophy for low Net.
