Casa de Campo never disappoints ASGA Members looking to escape the cold for a perfect winter getaway!!! Members in attendance at the 2016 ASGA Better Ball of Pairs Championship enjoyed 85 degree temperatures and sunshine every day while much of the country continued to struggle with freezing cold temperatures and even south Florida struggled with cold and wind. Following the recent Latin American Championship at Teeth of the Dog (where the winner gained an automatic exemption into the 2016 Masters at Augusta National) the golf course and new outstanding practice facilities were in the best condition we can ever remember, as was the Dye Fore course which continues to improve each year and is considered the favored course by many.

As is always the case with ASGA events, the hospitality and camaraderie were featured throughout and we were thrilled to welcome four terrific new members – Peter and Mary Lou Baiocco of Larchmont, NY; Blair Foley of Naples, FL; Mike and Yuko Nozawa of Montgomery, NY; Daniel and Darla Skoch of Sagamore Hills, OH; – to their first event with ASGA and hope that we see them at many more to come.

Some great play also highlighted the week and congratulations go to the team of Mal Makin and Bruce Shannahan who took home the title for the top Gross prize, highlighted by a closing round of even par 72 on the difficult Teeth of the Dog, edging the team of Steve Curtis and Conley Thornhill.  Mal also took home the Gross Championship at the Stroke Play in Bermuda this past December which makes this two in a row!! Congratulations also go to new Member Blair Foley and his partner Mike Lane for their great play in posting the best Net score and taking top Net honors by a single stroke over Leo Galanti and Bob Kearney.

In the Ladies Division, the top Gross score was posted by Geri McLauchlan while Diane Schwab took home the trophy for low Net.
