2016 Spring Championship

Sea Island Resort – Sea Island, GA
May 1-4, 2016

The American Seniors Golf Association returned to the magnificent Sea Island Resort for the 2016 Spring Championship May 1-4, 2016.  With golf rounds on the Seaside and Plantation Courses, glorious sunshine, warm temperatures and the incredible luxury, charm and hospitality of Sea Island there is no place better to be in May!  We were also extremely fortunate to have Sea Island Performance Center Director of Fitness Randy Myers join us for the opening dinner.  Randy works closely with many top touring professionals including Dustin Johnson, Davis Love III and Billy Horschel.  One of his many clients, Zach Johnson, lives at Sea Island and loaned Randy the Claret Jug he won at the British Open last year to bring to the dinner and have ASGA Members take photos holding throughout the night which was awesome!!  Many thanks to Mike Lane (pictured above with Randy and the Claret Jug) for helping to arrange such a unique treat.  The Non-golfing ladies were also treated to a tour on the historic yacht Cloister Bell as well as a tour of The Cloister Hotel and a memorable cooking class followed by lunch in the five-star/five-diamond Georgian Room.

As is always the case with ASGA events, the hospitality and camaraderie were featured throughout and we were thrilled to welcome five terrific new members!!! – Todd and Fran Edgar; Keith and Kathy Hynes; David Nissen; Bradley Shaw; Jim and Linda Sheldon – to their first event with ASGA and hope that we see them at many more to come.

A very special congratulations goes to the overall Gross Winner of the men’s event, Steve Chernock of Orange, CT. Congratulations also to Net Winner Don Meyer and Super Senior Winner Fred Putney. The Stableford Division was captured by Ron Ward with Chuck Hunt taking home the Super Senior trophy.

Mary Ann Soldo led the Ladies Championship Division with the top Gross score, Ellen Northcutt had the lowest Net score and Dawn Ward took the trophy for best Stableford score.
